Kyushu Nuclear Power Plants Certified Safe for Restart

Japan’s nuclear regulatory agency recently certified two nuclear reactors at the Sendai Nuclear Power Plant in Satsumasendai, Kagoshima Prefecture in Kyushu as safe for restarting.  Though certification does not mean an immediate restart, it is a significant development considering that all 48 of Japan’s nuclear power plants have remained idle since the March 11, 2011 Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant meltdown.
